JAKARTA – Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service (Kadispenau) First Marshal TNI R. Agung Sasongkojati revealed that the EMB 314 aircraft Super Tucano those who experienced lost contact and crashed in the Pasuruan area were from Air Squadron 21 Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base, Malang. Four of the best Indonesian Air Force (AU) soldiers died in the accident.

“The EMB 314 Super Tucano aircraft is an advanced training aircraft capable of COIN (Counter Insurgency) or anti-guerrilla warfare aircraft,” said Agung in a written statement, Friday (17/11/2023).

The aircraft is produced by Embraer Brazil with a Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-68C turboprop engine with a maximum speed of 590 km/h and an altitude of 35,000 ft. “And able to withstand maximum gravitational forces of up to +7g and -3.5g,” he said.

Agung explained that the EMB 314 Super Tucano TT-3103 aircraft started to strengthen Air Squadron 21 on February 2 2012 while the TT-3111 on November 23 2015. “Both of these aircraft are in airworthy condition and have a relatively young service life of 11 years and 8 years. ,” he said.

“Various operational and training missions have been carried out by this fighter aircraft, which is the pride of the Indonesian Air Force,” he continued.

For this reason, Agung said that the Indonesian Air Force would form an investigation team to find the cause of the crash of two of the Air Force’s flagship aircraft. “The team formed by the Airworthiness and Aviation and Work Safety Center (Puslaiklambambangja) of the Indonesian Air Force will carry out an investigation by looking at factors known as the 5 M’s (Man, Machine, Medium, Mission, and Management) as a whole into the causes of the crash of the two planes. ,” said Agung.

The team, said Agung, will directly examine the condition of the plane after the accident at the scene. The investigation team will also go through all procedures in investigating the crash of the Indonesian Air Force plane.

“This includes the weather conditions at the time of the incident, checking all personnel involved in the flight and various other possibilities,” he said.

Especially, said Agung, is the aircraft’s Flight Data Recorder which records flight data, engines, pilot communications and flight video until the last second it functions.
