Survey data show that less than half or 48% of Latvian residents aged 18 to 75 support the admission of refugees from the Ukrainian war in Latvia. In March 2024, there were 60.1% of them, and in November of last year – 52%, indicating that the support has decreased statistically significantly after the increase in March and is now at a similar level as six months ago, according to the pollsters.

However, compared to the March study, the proportion of citizens who support Ukraine’s admission to NATO has remained unchanged, ie 45% of respondents supported joining in June, and 46% in March.

There is the same support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. In June, this was expressed by 45% of survey participants, and in March – 46%.

The survey was conducted in June of this year, covering 1,005 respondents – permanent residents of Latvia aged 18 to 75. The cost of the study was 3,956 euros without value added tax, and it was financed from the state budget.
