The Supreme Court today rejected Yair Netanyahu’s appeal against the verdict of the Magistrate’s Court which required him to compensate Avi Alkalai in the amount of NIS 250,000. The total expenses accumulated against Netanyahu are NIS 400,000.

Alkalai filed a defamation lawsuit against Netanyahu Jr. in 2019, after he shared information on social media as if Alkalai was a Wexner Foundation operative within the Walla system and working against his father, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Judge Alex Stein rejected the request for permission to appeal the second that Yair Netanyahu submitted to the Supreme Court and wrote that “I believe that granting permission to appeal the judgment of the district court
It is not necessary to prevent a miscarriage of justice.”

Judge Noam Solberg also rejected a request for permission to appeal submitted by Yair Netanyahu, and rejected his claims. Judge Solberg also criticized the conduct of Yair Netanyahu and his lawyer Yossi Cohen as part of the procedure, conduct that ultimately led to a loss in all courts. Solberg wrote about this “the end of the act with the first thought”.
