The tenth suspect was detained in the framework of a criminal case on mass poisoning with fake alcohol in Orsk and several districts of the Orenburg region. Seven defendants have already been sent under arrest, among them the alleged organizer of the illegal production Ildar Suyunshalinov. According to the latest data, 32 people died from surrogate alcohol, 25 more people are in hospitals.
The tenth suspect was detained in the criminal case under investigation by the TFR on mass poisoning with surrogate alcohol in the Orenburg region. His name, like the names of eight other defendants, has not been disclosed. So far, it is known that the alleged organizer of the production of the counterfeit drink is Ildar Suyunshalinov. The investigation is under way under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence), clause “a”, part 6 of Art. 171.1 (production or sale of unmarked alcoholic beverages committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) and Part 1 of Art. 171.3 (illegal production and (or) circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products).
Seven previously detained were arrested by the regional courts of Orsk for two months, including the 29-year-old Orchan resident Ildar Suyunshalinov, who has already pleaded guilty.
The mass poisoning became known on Thursday, October 7. Analyzes of the victims and the victims showed the presence of methanol in the body. According to the Deputy Governor – Minister of Health of the region Tatyana Savinova, in some cases the concentration of the poison in the body was several times higher than the lethal dose. All the poisoned are residents of the Eastern Orenburg region: Orsk and Dombarovsky, Yasnensky, Adamovsky districts of the region. The victims are between 20 and 80 years old.
In Orsk, security officials found a base where a surrogate was being sold. More than 1.2 thousand 0.5 liter bottles were seized, including 560 plastic ones.
According to the latest data, 32 people died from surrogate alcohol, almost the same number were injured. Among the dead are a spouse from the village of Akzharskoye, Yasnensky District, who have five children left. As the ombudsman for the rights of the child in the Orenburg region, Anzhelika Linkova, said, the orphans were taken away by their aunt. The large family was poor, but it was characterized positively, said Ms. Linkova. Psychologists and guardianship authorities work with children whose parents are being treated.
There are 25 poisoned patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. On October 10, the regional government announced that leading resuscitators, toxicologists and narcologists from the Orenburg region and Bashkiria were working with patients.
“The situation is not ordinary, it is very difficult. All patients who are shown undergo such a modern method of removing poison as hemodialysis. Some of the patients cannot breathe on their own, they are connected to ventilators, many do not maintain blood pressure, “the government’s message is quoted as saying by the chief freelance toxicologist of Bashkiria, Guzeli Biktimirova.
The Orsk administration and the police on October 8 launched raids on trade facilities. The head of the city Vasily Kozupitsa announced plans to check more than 100 retail outlets. At the same time, representatives of the prosecutor’s office with employees of Rospotrebnadzor began checking the retail trade in alcohol throughout the region. In Orenburg alone, over two days in 26 retail outlets, more than 126 liters of alcohol were found and seized, sold in violation of the requirements of the law.
