The Israel Police arrested for questioning a suspect in a trash can rampage that seriously injured a woman on Yehezkel Street in Jerusalem in the middle of the month.

In the last hour, in the activity of the police forces of the Jerusalem district in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of the city, a suspect was arrested for setting fire to and burning a large garbage can that crushed and seriously injured Mirel Dzalovsky, a passerby who passed by during disturbances and violent riots.

The suspect was stopped by the police on the street and taken to the police station for questioning. The investigation of the case continues and the police intend to continue working to bring justice to all those involved in the act. The police said that “the Israel Police will continue to act against troublemakers, lawbreakers and violent criminals who harm citizens or police officers.”

As I recall, about a week and a half ago, an ultra-Orthodox woman of about 40 years old was seriously injured by a piece of metal thrown in her direction during an ultra-Orthodox demonstration on Bar Ilan Street in Jerusalem.

This incident occurred near a violent and prolonged disturbance in the Yehezkel Street area and further on in the Bar Ilan area, where hundreds of rioters rioted, threw stones, set fire to and trashed huge bins, and blocked the traffic axis. As a result of the violation of the order, a police car was damaged.

The ultra-orthodox parties attacked the actions, when the chairman of Degal HaTorah MK Moshe Gafni said that “It is shocking to hear about a handful of rioters on Bar Ilan Street in Jerusalem who hit a woman passerby who is a resident of the city and seriously injured her. The same handful of rioters who harm all the residents of Jerusalem and there is no one to stop them from their evil and depraved actions that have no Jewish sign. These violators must be caught and brought to justice.’

The chairman of Torah Judaism MK Yitzhak Goldknopf also strongly condemned the incident and said: “I strongly condemn the rioting of a handful of protesters last night, which resulted in the serious injury of an innocent bystander.”
