Team captain Neta Lavie (26) breaks a streak of 7 consecutive years in the green uniform and for the first time in his career will play outside the city of Carmel after signing with the team Gamba Osaka from the first division in Japan. How much is he expected to earn in his new team and will Maccabi Haifa get anything from it?

Neta Lavie (26), the defender of the champion Maccabi Haifa and the captain of the team, has left the club where he grew up and will soon start, for the first time, a career overseas after signing with the team Gamba Osaka from the first division in Japan.

At a special press conference held by the player, alongside his coach Barak Becher, he had difficulty holding back the tears and said: “My Maccabi Haifa, I’ve been thinking about what to say for a week. It’s hard for me to talk about such a significant period in my life. I’ve been in the club’s senior team for seven years and there’s not a moment that I I’m not thinking about the team. I’m leaving a strong home with a stable foundation that I will return to in the future. Maccabi Haifa is a family and the biggest club in Israel. The quality, the organization, the atmosphere, everything here is perfect for a footballer. My first championship with the team was the happiest moment of my career. I I thank coach Barak Becher for his support, for his trust and for proving to me that dreams do come true. For me, the credit belongs to only one person – Yankel Shahar, who treated me just like a son. He prepared me for real life and taught me never to give up. Even when there were failures, he taught me to take responsibility and keep trying. In the successes, he gave the credit to the players and the team. This is leadership. I promise to be a good ambassador for the club and represent the values I learned here.”

For Lavi, this is a significant step in his career as this will be his first experience with a team other than Maccabi Haifa. Levi made 265 appearances in the green uniform from the city of Carmel, scored 12 goals and recorded 13 assists. He also recorded 6 games in the Champions League and won two championships and one national cup. To his credit he also won one title of Champion of Champions and a single win in the Toto Cup. Lavi, who will fly to Japan with his wife Shir and his toddler son, is expected to earn about one million euros per season in a 3-year contract. This, in addition to grants for achievements, winning titles and successes in games in international establishments.

If Valvi is sold to another group in the future, Maccabi Haifa will receive half a million euros plus additional percentages.

The Japanese league is currently on hiatus and the league is set to resume next month. Lavie’s new team, Gamba Osaka, finished last season in 15th place and escaped relegation thanks to one point more than the red line. The new coach of the team is Danny Poyatos (44) from Spain, who was assistant to coach Jordi Cruyff at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2017/18 season.
