The Syrian man who claimed responsibility for the bombing in the western German city of Solingen, in which three people were killed and eight others were seriously injured, was to be deported to Bulgaria as early as 2023 after his asylum application was rejected, local media reported. .

According to German television Ntv, the suspect is 26-year-old Isaa Al H., a refugee from Syria. He entered the territory of the European Union through Bulgaria. He received refugee status and was registered in our country, as there was a war going on in his country.

He goes to Germany, where he is caught as an illegal immigrant. The authorities demand that he be returned to Bulgarian territory, because they discovered that he was registered in our country. Such are the rules according to the Dublin Convention – the country where the migrant is initially registered is responsible for his asylum.

Bulgaria agrees to take the Syrian back. But then he disappears and goes into hiding for 6 months. When he became known to the authorities again, the deadline for his relocation to Bulgaria – August 2023 – had expired. He thus remained the responsibility of the German state and was placed in a refugee camp in Solingen.

The 26-year-old man on Sunday pleaded guilty to killing 3 people and wounding 8 others with a cold weapon. The federal prosecutor’s office took over the case and is investigating the suspect, including for alleged membership in the terrorist organization “Islamic State”. She had previously claimed responsibility for the attack but provided no evidence.

Against this background, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck has pushed for stricter laws on the possession of edged weapons. According to analysts, the raging conflict in the Middle East can only be a prerequisite for similar attacks to become more frequent in Europe – since the continent is in close proximity to the troubled region.
