As you may recall, the incident in question that caused a public outcry took place in a public park in Kiryat Haim. Members of the Ethiopian community flooded the streets following the incident, claiming that police violence against members of the community crossed the border and a dresser was too light on the trigger. The officer, who has come under sharp criticism from all sides, is currently on trial himself for causing death by negligence in that incident.

The Taka family, through attorneys Eviatar Katzir and Giora Even-Tzur, filed a civil lawsuit against the police in the amount of NIS 2.5 million following the incident. Even before arriving at the district court, the parties agreed on a settlement of NIS 1.8 million, a move that is currently in final signatures and will be submitted for approval to the relevant parties.

Yedioth Dari: “It was learned that the firefighters’ attorneys first sought to delay the civil proceedings until the end of the criminal proceedings against him, but the court rejected their request and ordered the two proceedings to be conducted simultaneously. There will be no impact on the legal proceedings against him. ”
