In Afghanistan, the Taliban government punished 12 people, including 3 women, by flogging them in a public place. The Taliban, who have called for the implementation of Islamic Sharia law in Afghanistan, have reinstated the same type of punishment practiced in the 1990s.
The Lokhar Governor’s Office had invited Mujahideen, senior and tribal leaders and local people to witness the flogging of the culprits.
Each was sentenced to 21 to 39 lashes.
