The Tamil Nadu government has decided to celebrate Vinayagar Chaturthi arbitrarily Dinamalar

by time news

Vinayagar Chaturthi has been mentioned as September 17 (Sunday) in the 2023 government holiday list published by the Tamil Nadu government. But according to almanac, Ganesha Chaturthi should be celebrated on September 18 only. A holiday should have been declared on that day itself.

Why is the Tamil Nadu government playing with Vinayaka like this? Many adhimans, Shivacharyas and astrologers have opined why the Tamil Nadu government is arbitrarily taking a decision regarding the holidays of Hindu festivals.

Our festivals are based on Almanac

Thiruppanandal Kashi Thirumadam Principal Muthukumaraswamy Thambiran Swamis:

2023 Sep 18, Monday Puratasi month is born. On that day Trithi is celebrated with Tithi. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated on this day. Since Chaturthi falls in the evening, on that day devotees from all parts of the country celebrate the Ganesha Chaturthi festival with great enthusiasm. Most of our festivals are celebrated based on almanac. The next day is Chaturthi till noon on 19th.

Leave for 2 days

Chaturthi falls on 18 Sep 2023 at 11:38 am as per almanac. On that day Trithi is celebrated with Tithi. Worshiping Lord Ganesha on this day is perfect. Vinayagar Chaturthi is celebrated on that day itself. As Chaturthi falls on the next day on the 19th, some people celebrate that day as Ganesha Chaturthi.

Government of Tamil Nadu should declare 18th September as Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday. The Tamil Nadu government may come before the Tamil Nadu government as a holiday on September 18 and 19 to worship the supreme god Vinayagar Chaturthi.

Chaturthi of Patrapada month

Avani month should not be counted as Ganesha Chaturthi. All 12 months of a year are counted as 2 categories. Months calculated based on solar transit are called sauraman months. It is the months between Chitrai and Panguni. The days from Prathamai Tithi which is the day after the new moon day to the new moon day based on the waxing moon of the moon are referred to as Chandramana month.

Temple utsavams and festivals like Shivratri etc. should be celebrated on the basis of the lunar months. Navratri, Ganda Sashti, Ganesha Chaturthi, Vrathams should be observed on a lunar month basis.

These months are referred to as Chaitram and Vaisagam. The waxing moon of the month of Bhadrapadam is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. It sometimes comes in Avani and sometimes in Puratasi. The basis is that the month of Badrapada is born on the day after the new moon of Avani month.

Chaturthi Tithi falls on the first day of Puratasi due to the arrival of new moon this year at the end of the month. So there will be no confusion if we keep in mind that Bhadrapadamatha Chaturthi without taking into account Avani which is the month of Sauramana. In that way, Vinayaka Chaturthi fast should be observed on the first day of Puratasi month of 2023 (September 18) on Monday.

Insulting Hindus

Tamil Nadu Vishwa Hindu Parishad President R.R. A report by Gopalji:

latest tamil news

The calendars for the year 2023 are coming out. Based on the almanac, Monday, September 18 is predicted to be Ganesha Chaturthi. But it is surprising that in the list of public holidays of the Tamil Nadu government, Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday has been announced as Sunday, September 17.

Ganesha Chaturthi is the incarnation day of Lord Ganesha, the supreme god of Hindus. It is the waxing moon chaturthi day which follows the new moon of Avani month. Accordingly, Chaturthi, which may follow Avani Amavasai in the year 2023, starts at 11:38 AM on September 18 and ends at 11:50 AM the next day on September 19.

Hindu tradition does not take into account the remaining time after midnight. If you look at it like that, Vinayagar Chaturthi fast should be observed only on September 18. Without considering this, the Tamil Nadu government has arbitrarily announced that Vinayagar Chaturthi on September 17 is condemnable. This is an insult to the faith of Hindus.

The festival of a religion should be decided by the believers and spiritual elders of that religion and not by the government. The festival days of other religions are decided by their respective religious leaders. If the date announced by the government differs from the date decided by the religious leaders, the date announced by the government has been changed.

Based on this, in the public holiday notification issued by the Tamil Nadu government, Vinayagar Chaturthi should be changed to September 18. To prevent such mistakes from happening, one should seek the advice of adins, abbots and spiritual elders.

It is beneficial to consult and publish

Celebrating Ganesha Chaturthi is a Hindu tradition. Now a holiday has been announced as Trithi. It would be appropriate to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi on Monday, 18th Puratasi 1st. It is better to observe Tiruthi on the same day as Chaturthi starts at around 11:30 am that morning. When announcing Vinayagar Chaturthi, it is beneficial to consult and publish Adisaiva Sivacharyas and Panchanga publishers.

Government is like a machine

Madurai District VHP, President Chandrasekaran:

Ganesha Chaturthi is a festival of faith of Hindus. It is a tradition to celebrate this Chaturthi Tithi by touching the culture and customs. But the Tamil Nadu government has declared Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday on September 17 instead of September 18 in order to destroy the identity of the entire Hindu people. Government works like a machine. It is an act of destroying the faith and traditions of Hinduism and is strongly condemned.

An act that shakes the spiritual world

Astrologer Sirkazhi M. Trijunanam:

latest tamil news

Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated on Varapira Chaturthi Tithi, which always comes after the end of the new moon day of Avani month which is Bhadrapada month. This time i.e. in the upcoming Sobhakritu year, since Chaturthi Tithi does not fall on the waxing of Avani month, and since Avani month also ends on September 17, Ganesha Chaturthi has been set on the Tithi of Avani month itself. This is wrong.

Even though the month changes, the proper Ganesha Chaturthi falls on the 1st day of Puratasi, which follows the Bhadrapada month, i.e., September 18. The announcement of Vinayagar Chaturthi on the previous day, September 17, seems to be an act of the Tamil Nadu government that is shaking the spiritual world.
