The General Tax Authority announced today, Wednesday, the ratification of a joint agreement between Baghdad and Erbil to unify tax work.
The Commission said in a statement received by the (INA): “The Ministers of Finance in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region approved a joint agreement to unify tax procedures and work in all tax branches in Iraq starting next week.”
The statement added that “it was agreed to subject private universities and colleges to tax accounting in accordance with the Ministry of Higher Education Law No. 25 of 2016 for income and withholding taxes since 2016.”
This came based on the administrative order issued by the Federal General Tax Authority and referring to its letter No. (61 S / 549 on 4/25/2023) and attached to the margin of the Minister of Finance dated (5/1/2023) regarding the directives of the Diwani Order Committee No. (62 of 2023) regarding holding a consultative meeting between representatives from the Federal Ministry of Finance / General Tax Authority and representatives from the Kurdistan Regional Government / General Directorate of Taxes and State Real Estate for the purpose of unifying tax procedures and controls, and after holding deliberative meetings for three consecutive days, a number of items were agreed upon in this regard.
