Pursuant to today’s decision of the Metropolitan Assembly, the taxi ordinance will be amended: the performance of tasks related to taxis will once again be in one hand, the Budapest Transport Center (BKK) told MTI on Wednesday.
They wrote that from January, BKK as the capital’s transport organizer will once again perform all municipal tasks related to taxi companies and taxis. For this reason, the administration and regulation related to taxi services will be simpler and more transparent, because the tasks related to consents and preliminary certificates, as well as tasks related to inspection and the establishment and operation of taxi stations, will be put in one place, they wrote.
In addition, they added, the regulations in all these areas will become clearer, thereby simplifying administration.
Previously, tasks related to taxi services were divided between two capital companies, BKK and Budapest Közút, but the amendment adopted by the Capital Assembly on Wednesday centralizes the relevant activities.
As of January 1, the customer service at Asztalos Sándor út will continue to operate undisturbed, but as part of BKK, the announcement reads.
