Last Tuesday she was arrested at the school where she teaches at around 08:00 in the morning, but according to the police the arrest was not made in front of any student. District Superintendent Leihangala Brady gave a statement to the NBC 7 network and claimed that there is currently only one known student with whom the teacher had sex.

Brady said: “We know that our entire school community is as shocked as we are by this news. The district will cooperate with law enforcement and cannot comment further on the ongoing investigation. We will continue to do everything to keep the safety, needs and education of our students first and foremost.” In the meantime, another teacher was appointed in Ma’s place, while she was in custody.

Ma was one of five teachers to receive the “San Diego County Teacher of the Year” award for 2022-2023. Many parents of students at the school said that they think Ma has a great relationship with her students, but however, some noticed a number of strange things that lit up a red light for them.
