Antònia Font’s massive concertwhich will gather more than 6,000 people at the Palau de Fires de Girona this Saturday, will donate the start of the Temporada Alta festival, which for eleven weeks will hold ninety-nine proposals in nine municipalities of Girona and Barcelona. With almost forty premieres and twenty-five productions or co-productions that will be seen in twenty-two stages until December 10e, the thirty-twelfth edition of the festival bets more than ever on international programming, with heavyweights of the European scene such as Simon McBurney, Milo Rau, Peeping Tom, Angélica Liddell and Thomas Ostermeier. All this, however, without forgetting the Catalan scene, with a poster that includes the latest productions under the label of La Calòrica, La Veronal, Mario Gas, Dagoll Dagom, Mal Pelo, Jordi Oriol or Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs.

A Temporada Alta that looks outward more than ever

The Mallorcan concert, which recovers the fair grounds as a stage for great concerts, will be the start of the triple opening date planned for this yearwhich will continue on Sunday with La PetiTA, the day of family shows promoted by the El Pot Petit group also at Fira de Girona, and the large format dance show Face T(W)O which will be seen on October 6 and 7 in Plaça de l’U d’Octubre.

After years of chasing him, Simon McBurney will finally make his debut in Girona. Will do with one thriller ecological based on a novel by Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk and six years after Complicité’s last visit to Catalonia.

The fashionable author of the European theater, Édouard Louis, takes the floor on stage to interpret his text, a monologue about the working class, under the orders of the prestigious director Thomas Ostermeier, one of the festival’s regulars.

Simone Weil i the antichrist de F. Nietzsche – Girona Cathedral, October 11 and 13/La Planeta, December 7

A proposal that is actually twofold: two dramatized readings of classics with contemporary airs. After taking the Confessions of Saint Augustusí in the cathedral, Míriam Iscla will read Weil’s texts in the temple, while Pol López will approach Nietzsche’s Antichrist from the stage of La Planeta.

The festival continues to insist on having Catalan creators work with foreign artists to continue exporting the country’s performing arts. This time it is the Catalan company El Eje that joins forces with one of the outstanding names of Argentine theatre, Sergio Boris, with a piece about the idea of ​​failure and power relations.

Casares-Camus: a love story – Teatre de Salt, 2 and 3 December

Mario Gas turns the twelve years of the intense epistolary relationship between the writer Albert Camus and the actress María Casares into a show with Jordi Boixaderas and Rosa Renom, in what is expected to be one of the great productions of the festival. Temporada Alta will also be behind the new projects of Jordi Oriol or La Veronal.

The Uruguayan Gabriel Calderón, author of the successful History of a wild boar, returns to the festival to talk about a mother who tries to save her son’s life, in the most outstanding proposal of the Iberoamerican Connection cycle, which will also feature the latest titles by Mariano Pensotti and Marina Otero.

Molforts i Ingrid Caven – Theater of Salt, December 6

Finally, a rarity. Filmmaker Albert Serra, also the author of the festival’s short film, proposes one performance musical with the legendary actress Ingrid Caven, discovered by Fassbinder, and Molforts, the group responsible for the soundtracks of his films.
