The next 2, 3 and 4 June will be held in the Canal Theaters (Madrid), the tenth exhibition of public beta. All this within the programming of the 38th Madrid Dance Festival.

One of several reasons why I try to leave the city of Seville from time to time to cover shows or do interviews, is to attest that things are happening beyond our cities of residence. I am thinking, more specifically, of programs that transcend the calls to which dance professionals apply, or those issues that include well-known companies that operate in national and international arenas. Of course, the public beta sample is a good example of this. This is: Approaching what is moving at a national and international level outside of the “big names”, helps to understand what are the trends that have managed to establish themselves, or why not say it, those that are to come. Since it is not ruled out that those who have been selected to act in one of the Public Beta samples are about to receive the recognition they deserve.

In parallel, Public Beta offers a small space to what they call Pro-Beta, where those selected manage to expose something they have been working on in recent times. An exercise that allows them to probe how this idea works before an audience, while they put themselves in a position to create with a specific date in which to respond to a series of objectives.

The above, together with how delighted I was to witness and cover the ninth edition of the Public Beta sample, has pushed me to repeat. Really, there is a festive and expectant atmosphere, in which the exchanges between the professionals in the game are consummated when they see the pieces of their fellow players. Without further ado, I give way to the pieces that will make up the tenth edition of the Public Beta sample:

Pilar Villanueva – Anteroom. “One day… another day” / MADRID

Through dance I learned that what you dance today you will not dance the same tomorrow. Just like the days, the moments… Which leads me to become aware that, every time, even what seems the same to us, is the same but it is not the same. This generates many different sensations and emotions in each one. But the important thing is to realize that everything is new, that everything is yet to be done, to be lived. With this thought we created this Prelude to our X Anniversary, where three artists capture our sensations and emotions. From the audiovisual at the entrance, to the interaction with the actors and the arrival on stage where the tone of the music and the voice of the public treated by a DJ, generate each time, each moment, each function, a unique, special and especial experience. unrepeatable… Like life itself.

Synopsis: “From our devastating and internal struggles, the pulse of life resounds. In its wake, chaos emerges like the great void, a space in which time is distorted and becomes matter in perpetual renewal. This duet, both pictorial and choreographic, is like a breather, like a plunge into the muffled screams of our contained anger. The evocation of the fight through fantasized moments, sometimes sublimated, made of deep fears and desires, is presented here in dance through the intimacy of slowness.
