On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the THAM Commonwealth has organized various activities in Torrelodones during the month of March that this year have the motto ‘Innovation and technology for gender equality’ and the objective of “breaking the digital divide and social and economic inequalities”.
One of the main missions of the organized activities will be to “bring closer to leading citizens from all fields of science to make visible the work of women that on numerous occasions has not received recognition.” For this, the Commonwealth is going to install an urban exhibition, in the arcades of the Plaza de la Constitución, where residents will be able to meet “some of the brilliant women who played a key role in important scientific advances.”
In addition, there will be activities such as theatre, yoga and self-defense workshops and a networking meeting with the area’s entrepreneurs, in collaboration with the REM Association, which will include the talk ‘How to incorporate the gender perspective to promote equality in entrepreneurship projects’. In addition, as every year, on March 8 at noon the Manifesto will be read on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

- Wednesday March 8. 12:00 p.m. Constitution Plaza. Manifesto reading.
- Thursday March 9. Boulevard Theater. 8:00 p.m. ‘Francisca’, directed by Fredeswinda Gijón. A drama by Borja Rodriguez about the life of Francisca de Pedraza. Free entrance.
- Friday March 10. 5:00 p.m. Social Services Center. Meeting-networking of entrepreneurs. ‘How to incorporate the gender perspective to promote equality in entrepreneurship projects’.
- Saturday March 11. 11:00 a.m. Municipal Sports Center – Small Pavilion. Free workshop ‘Woman and power through yoga’.
- Sunday March 12. 11:00 a.m. Municipal Sports Center – Small Pavilion. Free self defense workshop.
