The thief imitated the “noble thief” from the TV series Lupine

by time news

In the first episode of Netflix’s Lupine, “noble thief” Assan Diop is about to steal a very expensive necklace.

An unnamed 21-year-old Italian, “inspired” by the example of this character, turned his gaze to a much less expensive object, which was kept in a church chapel near Milan. Imitating Diop, the young man waited until the church bells rang, and only after that he began to break the glass in the chapel door, hoping that the bell ringing would drown out the cracking of the breaking glass.

But then events unfolded in a completely different way than in the series. The unlucky thief managed to pull out only about $ 25 from the cash register and grab a jar of orange juice that had turned up under his arm. But the hand, cut by fragments of glass, began to bleed so much that the newly minted “Diop” had to call an ambulance. At first, he stated that he was wounded by three bandits who attacked him. But during interrogation by the police, he confessed that he had robbed the chapel and that he had “imitated” a character in a television series.
