The third edition of the VillaSoundBilbao festival will end with the tour of the group Ithaka from Gipuzkoa

The group Ithaka from Gipuzkoa has taken a new step in its career, as the jury of the third edition of the VillaSoundBilbao festival organized by the City of Bilbao has selected it to tour the VSB Tour in the last quarter of the year. In this way, they will play in Toledo, Zaragoza, Córdoba and Guernica, since the purpose of the tour is to promote the projection of the selected group and its talent and to create relations and synergies with young groups from other cities.

Well, as reported by the City of Bilbao, the first concert of the VSB Tour tour will take place on Friday, November 3rd, in Toledo, with the band Bela; the performance will take place in Zaragoza on November 25, with the band Apartamentos Acapulco; on December 10th Ithaka will be in Cordoba, again with Belako, and the tour will end on December 29th in Gernika, together with El Txef A.

The Ithaka group consists of four young people from Orio and Zarauz: Josune Freire (drums), Eneko Eizagirre (bass), Arantza Igartua (guitar) and Leire Olariaga (vocals and keyboard). In 2022 they won the audience prize of the Gaztea Maketa Contest, and this year they have been selected for the Katapulta Tour Gipuzkoa circuit.

The band wanders between dark and melancholic sounds. In the album they have in hand, the band from Gipuzkoa will move in the genres of alt-rock, stoner, post-punk and post-rock. Muse, Joy Division, Belako, Lukie and Wolf Alice have influenced Ithaka’s first long work.

Bilbao City Council launched the first edition of the VillaSoundBilbao festival in October 2020. In this third edition, there have been several phases: in the first, the VillaSoundBilbao Fest was held, and the 12 bands initially selected gave concerts in Bilborock; the second was VillaSoundBilbao Mentoring, where six of the 12 groups were selected to receive training and professional support (Julen, Nko, Lova Lois, Sofia V, Marban, and, of course, Ithaka); the third and last is the VSB Tour, and this stage will close the third edition of the festival.
