Faced with this new episode of violence, the employees of the Boca Sur Cesfam began a strike on Wednesday, demanding responses from local and national authorities.
The National Confederation of Municipal Health Officials (Confusam) questioned that the Cesfam South Mouth of San Pedro de la Paz, in the Biobío Region, faced a new incident again this yearafter the shooting that took place outside the building.
According to the agency, unknown persons in a vehicle shot six times at another car that was parked in front of the Cesfam, causing fear among officials and users.
Confusam said that the occupants of the vehicle that was hit by gunfire, who were carrying a little girl in their arms, had arrived there to take refuge after noticing that they were being pursued by another car. Upon entering the premises, the shooting began.
The union group questioned this new episode of aggression against employees, which adds to several that have occurred this year in various primary health centers and which is the third to occur in eight months in this same Cesfam.
“It is outrageous and intolerable that the authorities do not take responsibility for these attacks and leave officials at the mercy of criminals who attack the front line of health in the country,” said the national president of Confusam, Gabriela Flores.
“Carabineros arrive late, the authorities arrive late. We demand that this be resolved, that at least the municipal guards be present at the premises, until this situation is normalized,” Flores added.
