Kasaragod: More than half a lakh people in the district have not been vaccinated despite the deadline for Kovid to take the second dose. The Department of Health is concerned that the reluctance of some people to a second dose of the vaccine to prevent Kovid immunization may undermine the gains made against Kovid control. Although 98.07% of those eligible for Kovid vaccination received the first dose, only 59.56% received the second dose.

The number of people who did not receive the vaccine after the second dose vaccination interval was 55,500. The purpose of vaccination is to create antibodies in the body against the corona virus. In those who receive a single dose of the vaccine, the body begins to produce antibodies slowly and the body reaches a high level of immunity. Then the antibody level in the body drops. Thus the lower time is scientifically chosen as the time to give the second dose vaccine.

With proper vaccination, the antibody level in the body will improve and it will last longer. Scientific studies have shown that people who do not take the second dose have lower immunity and are more likely to get the disease. District Medical Officer Dr. E. Mohanan said that the entire population should co-operate with the Kovid vaccination campaign, which is important in disease control activities.
