The event that will take place in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, Province of Uiga, is addressing, among other issues, the role of youth in the growth of the community, as well as the contribution of the church to their education.

It was the Prophet Simão Gonçalves Toco who founded on July 25, 1949, the date that the faithful of the community celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit, the Tocoista Church is the first one recognized by the Angolan authorities.

The believers of the Tocoist Church played a leading role in awakening the conscience of the Agolans, in particular, and of Africa in general, about the need to fight for the freedom, development and well-being of the citizens.

This Church is for peace and harmony among all believers, as well as striving for spiritual and material freedom.

After the death of the Prophet Simão Gonçalves Toco, in January 1983, the church went through a period of division, where several wings were in conflict with each other, an issue that Bishop Dom Afonso Nunes resolved in 95 percent since he assumed leadership of this religious association. in the year 2000.

Since the year 2000, the church has expanded to more than 25 countries on the continent of Africa, Europe, America and Asia.

The Background of the Tocoist Church

From 15 to 21 July 1946, the International Protestant Missionary Conference of all missions around the world was held in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa), which included Simão Gonçalves Toco, rector of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in the World.

In this situation, in which believers from all races and from different parts of the planet gathered, three days before his end, three Angolans are chosen: Reverend Gaspar de Almeida (Methodist Church of Angola), Jessé Chiúla Chipenda and Simão Gonçalves Toco to pray. for various aspects in favor of the African continent.

The former was instructed to pray for instruction, education, progress, law and increased union between blacks and whites, while the latter was tasked with asking for financial power for the black and after that on the third request to ask for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. .

Studies show that the request for the descent of the Holy Spirit was intended to convert the African people who were in the darkness of sin, because Africa would remain the same without its strength.

This prayer was to be led by an African chosen by the missionaries who brought the holy scriptures to Africa.

This third African (Simão Gonçalves Toco) prayed for three minutes for the strength of the Holy Spirit on the continent, the cradle of humanity and the increase of God’s word in the world.

On the 24th of July 1949, with his presence confirmed for the 25th of the same month, Simão Gonçalves Toco brought a group of 35 people together in Leopoldville in order to find out from God whether he heard the prayer he spoke or not. in 1946 at the international conference, in which he asked for the descent of the Holy Spirit and thanked the protection to bring the Kibokolo corps, led by him, back to Kinshasa.

At midnight they heard a loud noise and saw a light, according to reports, many were trembling, others speaking strange languages.

According to the writings of Simão Gonçalves Toco, that night he began to know some chapters of the Holy Bible, which he did not know before, and others performed miracles such as picking up a hot iron and not being burned and have visions.

As a result of the descent of the Holy Spirit, many secrets were discovered, there were miracles that had never been seen before in Angola, which started the activity of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in the World (the Tocoistas).
