The totally grotesque own goal of a Japanese defender

by time news

It’s only February, but you might not have to look much further to see the most bizarre own goal of this year 2023. In a Japanese Championship match played on Friday between Shonan Bellmare and Yokohama FC, a defender for the visiting team cracked a CSC rarely seen before.

Pressed on the side of his surface, Takuya Wada seems to see the extremely offbeat position of his goalkeeper. But rather than playing back or clearing away, the defender took the option of … attempting a cross to another teammate, yet located not far from his deserted cage.

Wada missed, unscrewing when hitting the ball which took a wrong trajectory and ended its course directly in its own goal. Fortunately for the poor culprit, his teammate Koki Ogawa scored twice and allowed Yokohama to snatch a 2-2 draw at the end of the match. A large dumpling with a slightly less bitter flavor.
