In celebration of World Tourism Day, the Technological University of Pereira was the headquarters of the new strategy of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism that seeks to link community-based organizations and tourism service providers to the value chain, made up of victims of the armed conflict, population in the process of replacing illicit crops and signatories of the Peace Agreement, at a time when the country’s economic reactivation is being promoted.
With the participation of cultural leaders from Villa Santa, the Tokiomanía Festival and the La Ferro tourism strategy, the possibility of continuing to advance as a city and department in the search for sustainable tourism was consolidated. Diana María Rodríguez, director of sustainable tourism programs at the Technological University of Pereira, expressed that this type of tourism helps pacification, through “dignifying tourism that allows reconciliation and non-repetition and allows us to dialogue based on our differences.”
To date, the Vice Ministry of Tourism has delivered 253 ‘Colombia Destinations of Peace’ stamps, and has received 700 applications from enterprises and productive projects that want to have this distinction, which highlights and promotes local consumption as a responsible and sustainable practice in tourism. in addition to dignifying memory.
