This fair will be held in the east of the capital. It is planned to keep the fair grounds somewhat open this year. Plans have also been made to have a resting place for the elderly. Due to this reason, the number of pavilions and stalls will be slightly less than last year. Also, the app can match the entrance tickets to the fair premises.

According to sources, it is planned to have a stall on the success of ‘anti-discrimination student movement’ in this fair. Apart from constructing the ‘Mugdha’ corner, the Export Development Bureau (EPB), the organizer of the fair, is thinking of what else can be done to honor the sacrifices of the students.

Dhaka International Trade Fair usually starts from the first day of January. However, due to the National Assembly elections, this year’s trade fair started on January 21. The fair runs till February 20 at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal, on the outskirts of the capital.

The fair was held in Sherebangla Nagar from 1995 to 2020 as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and EPB to promote, spread, market, and support domestic products. The fair was not held in 2021 due to the covid pandemic. Then the fair was held for the first time in 2022 at BBCFEC in Purbachle under the restrictions of the pandemic. The trade fair was held for the third time in 2024 at the permanent venue Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC). The fourth fair of this venue will be held on January 1, 2025.

According to EPB sources, ‘Mugdha’ corner will be constructed in honor of the sacrifice of students in the anti-discrimination student movement at the upcoming trade fair. There will be a picture exhibition about the movement. Four seminars will be organized in four weeks at this month-long fair.

In this regard, an official of EPB said that it has been decided to start the trade fair from January 1, 2025. Although earlier it was thought to start the fair from the second week of January. Then it was seen that there will be no winter season, again the book fair will start from February 1. Taking these matters into consideration and everyone’s opinion, the final decision has been taken to start the fair from January 1 and preparations are being made accordingly.

It is known that a digital platform for children and teenagers is being considered at the fair. Apart from this, a separate place will be kept for the elderly to rest. There will be separate space for them to promote SMEs. The fair premises will be opened to facilitate the movement of visitors. However, how many pavilions or stalls will be given in the fair has not been finalized yet. The layouts of the fair grounds are being revised. A decision will be taken after discussing with everyone. As the fair premises will be kept open, the number of pavilions and stalls will be less than last year. The fair will also have stalls on ‘Anti-discrimination student movement’; There will be ‘Enchanted Corner’. The chief adviser to the government will be requested to inaugurate the fair. EPB sources said that the matter will be decided after knowing its decision.
