The drama turned into a tragedy: The rescue forces, with the help of Home Front Command soldiers, recently found the body of the 4-year-old girl who had been missing for many hours in a fire that broke out in a house in the Geula neighborhood. The girl’s body was found among the rubble of the roof of the collapsed building.

The fire, as reported, broke out today, Thursday, around 4:30 PM, at 17 Avraham Talmud Street in Geula. The girl was at home at the time with her grandmother and 7 brothers. The grandmother and siblings managed to escape, and from the beginning the fear arose that the girl had been trapped in the attic of the house. Concerns became heavier following the collapse of the building’s tiled roof, which could not withstand the load of flames.

For long hours, even during the firefighting operations, the forces on the ground – firefighters, police, rescue forces – concentrated efforts to locate the girl but to no avail.

It should be noted that at first there was concern that there were 4 trapped in the building, but it soon became clear that three were not in the building at all, as stated except for the 4-year-old girl.

The Jerusalem Police sums up the incident and says: “Jerusalem District Capital Heart Station police were called in the afternoon following a report received of a fire in a residential building on Avraham Talmudi Street in Jerusalem. To close the arena, in order to allow the emergency and rescue forces to operate at the scene while the fire brigade continued all the time. “The emergency and rescue services.” Unfortunately, a short time ago (apparently) the girl was found lifeless.

Earlier, at 8:26 p.m., firefighters and rescuers issued a statement saying “in response to questions and false information circulated on social media: The trapped girl’s efforts are ongoing and may continue in the coming hours.”

The rumors apparently started following the arrival of Jerusalem ZAK chairman Benzi Weering at the scene.

Earlier we published that at first there was a concern that there were 4 trapped / missing in the fire, but after a few minutes 3 of the missing were located who were not in the building at all. At the scene itself, two people were treated – a woman and a child – who were slightly injured by smoke inhalation. The search for the 4-year-old girl intensified, when as mentioned – the heavy concern was that she was trapped in the attic of the building.

Firefighters and Rescue reported earlier – around 6:00 PM: “At 4:37 PM, call 102 received a report of a fire in a residential building on 17 Avraham Talmud Street. Increased forces from the Nation Fire Station arrived at the scene within minutes The four broke into the stairwell of the building and rescued an elderly woman from the lower floors, who was evacuated for further treatment. “They began efforts to extinguish the attic, which burned down completely while the roof collapsed into the apartment.”
