The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported on the resumption of the trial against former deputy Norman Quijano, who is prosecuted for negotiating with gangs in exchange for votes in his favor, during the 2014 presidential elections, for which he has an order capture from 2022.
In today’s session, which will be held before the Second Criminal Chamber of San Salvador, it is planned that witness statements, expert and documentary evidence will be presented, including videos and audios that incriminate Quijano.
The trial began last Wednesday, April 3, where according to the FGR it has collected enough evidence to show that the former deputy negotiated favors with the gangs, in exchange for votes in the 2014 presidential elections, for which he is accused of the crimes of procedural fraud and illicit groups.
According to tax investigations, Quijano met with gang members from the MS and Barrio 18 in offices located in the Flor Blanca neighborhood, where he would have offered them money in exchange for votes in the second round of the 2014 presidential elections.
By then, the presidential candidate promised to provide various economic benefits, reduce the increase in police operations against terrorist groups and make government investments in areas controlled by gangs and for reintegration programs in favor of gangs.
