The trial between Twitter y Elon Musk will be held next octoberas decided on Tuesday by the commercial court in charge of the case, which agreed to the request of the red social to proceed on the fast trackaccording to US media.

Twitter, what do you want? force Musk to complete the acquisition of the company for the 44,000 million dollars agreed, had asked the Court based in Wilmington (Delaware, USA) to see the issue “as soon as possible” given the damage it is suffering due to the slowdown in the operation. Meanwhile, the billionaire businessman requested that, at the earliest, the trial start in February 2023.

In court documents, Musk’s legal team had insisted that the “dispute over fake accounts and ‘spam’ is critical to the value of Twitter” and had asked for “substantial time” for an investigation, deeming it “unnecessary” to proceed with a “hurried schedule.”

On the other hand, the company stressed that with each passing day its interests are being damaged by Musk’s maneuver, who decided to cancel the purchase of Twitter that he had agreed to last April with the argument that the platform deceived him and does not give him the information he requests.

He was referring, above all, to data on the number of false accounts or ‘spam’ (‘bots’) present in the social network, which the company figures around 5% but which he believes is much higher. For many analysts, the ‘bots’ issue is simply the excuse Musk has found to back down to an operation that seems increasingly ruinous: Twitter is trading below 40 dollars, far from the 54.20 per share that Musk agreed to pay, while shares of Tesla – the main asset of the businessman’s fortune – have fallen strong this year.

In response, Twitter filed a lawsuit before this court specialized in commercial disputes with the aim of forcing Musk to close the operation in the agreed terms.

This Tuesday, Judge Kathaleen McCormick held a first hearing to address the calendar, in which she leaned towards the arguments presented by Twitter, which asked to start a four-day trial in September. Finally, the process will take place in October and It will last five daysaccording to McCormick’s decision.
