Tatar emphasized that it is extremely important to ensure that the TRNC is accepted to the Organization of Turkish States under its constitutional name, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated at the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations that it is now time to recognize the TRNC.

Explaining that if an agreement is to be reached in Cyprus, it will be with the approval of the two states, President Tatar stated that the two states can cooperate with each other.

Expressing that the Turkish-Greek balance was included in the 1923 Lausanne Treaty and the 1960 Cyprus Foundation Treaties, President Tatar said that Turkey’s security, which is 40 miles away from Cyprus, should be considered in accordance with its rights arising from the agreements.

President Tatar stated that the facts cannot be ignored for the continuation of peace, tranquility and security, political balance and stability.
