Ankara’s foreign policy is aimed at ensuring the interests of the state and people of Turkey. Our country periodically changes its policy in the light of national interests, while not hesitating to take steps to eliminate threats to Turkey’s national security.
As reported by Day.Az, this was stated in a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, distributed on Wednesday, July 3 in Ankara.
The ministry emphasized that Turkey’s fundamental principles in the foreign arena remain commitment to international law, humanism and the pursuit of global justice.
The Foreign Ministry drew attention to Ankara’s approaches to the situation in the Middle East countries. “Based on Turkey’s interests, the government seeks to contribute to ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East region,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry noted, recalling Ankara’s attitude to the Syrian conflict.
“Turkey’s fundamental position on the internal confrontation in Syria, which has led to a humanitarian tragedy in that country, has remained unchanged since the very beginning of the conflict,” the department emphasized.
In this regard, it is pointed out that it is unacceptable to criticize Turkey’s foreign policy in the region for the sake of short-term political dividends for certain circles.
“Turkey has remained an island of stability in a region full of fire for many years, the security and well-being of the Turkish people are ensured. At the same time, Ankara not only increases its defense capability, but also deals a powerful blow to terrorism both inside the country and abroad. Foreign policy will continue to be aimed at ensuring the interests of Turkey,” the document notes.
