The Bastards of Pizzofalcone 4 (from Monday 23 October on Rai 1)

Four murders, one per episode, in the fourth season of I Bastardi di Pizzofalcone. The third chapter ended with Inspector Lojacono tied up and bloodied: and we start again from here, with the character played by Alessandro Gassmann tortured in a deserted hangar. Rocco Squillace, an enemy from the past, is taking revenge on him. Believed dead by everyone, Lojacono will, as always, find help from his colleagues, the bastards of Pizzofalcone. The fourth season of the series – starting tomorrow in prime time on Rai 1 – is based on the novels by Maurizio de Giovanni Angeli per i bastardi di Pizzofalcone and Fiori per i bastardi di Pizzofalcone. In the cast, together with Gassmann, Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus), Massimiliano Gallo (Imma Tataranni) and Antonio Folletto (Gomorrah).

For Elisa – The Claps Case (from Tuesday 24 October on Rai 1)

Elisa Claps disappeared in Potenza on 12 September 1993. She was 16 years old. Her body, now mummified, was found only 17 years later, in the attic of the Church of the Holy Trinity: the last place where the girl had been seen. For Elisa – The Claps case, on Rai 1 in three evenings from Tuesday 24 October, retraces one of the most well-known and at the same time incredible crime stories of recent decades. The story of Elisa and her family, first of all her mother Filomena and her brother Gildo, who fought for years before seeing the man in the dock who everyone, in the city and beyond, knew to be the culprit: Danilo Restivo. The series, directed by Marco Pontecorvo, is based on the book Blood on the Altar by the English journalist Tobias Jones; the cast includes Ludovica Ciaschetti, Gianmarco Saurino, Anna Ferruzzo and Francesco Acquaroli. The docuseries Where Nobody Looks is also dedicated to the murder of Elisa Claps, taken from the podcast of the same name by Pablo Trincia, arriving in November on Sky.

Corpo Libero (from Wednesday 25 October on Rai 2)

What is the price of perfection? Behind the glittering leotards of the gymnasts hide total dedication and unwavering perseverance. But the protagonists of Corpo Libero are still teenagers who seek a complicated balance between the need to break the rules and the great goal they have set for themselves: achieving perfection. Based on the book of the same name by Ilaria Bernardini, Corpo Libero (from Wednesday 25 October on Rai 2 after the move to Paramount+) focuses on a group of gymnasts. The series was written by Bernardini with Ludovica Rampoldi (1992, 1993, 1994), Ginevra Elkann and Chiara Barzini. Cosima Spender (Sanpa) and Valerio Bonelli are directing. The cast includes Filippo Nigro (Everything asks for salvation) and Barbara Chichiarelli (Suburra).

The Lions of Sicily (from Wednesday 25 October on Disney+)

After the tragic earthquake of 1799, the brothers Paolo and Ignazio Florio left Bagnara Calabra to move to Palermo. Here they immediately began working to achieve their goal: to become the richest and most powerful in the city. In a short time the Florios managed to make their spice shop the best in Palermo, then they launched themselves into the sulfur trade, real estate sales and the new shipping company. An impetuous and feverish growth carried out by Vincenzo, Paolo’s son, capable of transforming the Marsala of Cantine Florio into a wine for the rich and of relaunching the consumption of tuna thanks to its preservation in oil in cans. And yet, in the eyes of the people of Palermo, the Florios still remain foreigners. It is the plot of The Lions of Sicily, the series based on the family saga of the same name written by Stefania Auci. Directed by Paolo Genovese, the cast includes Michele Riondino, Miriam Leone, Donatella Finocchiaro, Vinicio Marchioni, Eduardo Scarpetta and Paolo Briguglia.

Tore (from Friday 27 October on Netflix)

Six Feet Under, two decades later. The life of 27-year-old Tore, an employee in his father’s funeral home, is turned upside down by the death of the most important person in his life, hit by a garbage truck. The close daily contact with death doesn’t help him accept his loss, on the contrary: Tore’s first instinct is to run away, burying the pain as deep as possible. If during the day he continues to work in the funeral home as if nothing had happened, at night he begins to experiment with a transgression based on alcohol, drugs and sex on board a ‘party boat’. Tore, six episodes available from Friday 27 October on Netflix, is a Swedish series written and starring William Spetz.

Bardot (from Friday 27 October on Canale 5)

BB, the most famous initials in the history of cinema. A French series in six episodes, broadcast on Canale 5 for three evenings from Friday 27 October, retraces the beginnings of Brigitte Bardot: from 1949, the year in which as a 15-year-old she met Roger Vadim who fell in love with her and launched her into the world of cinema, to 1960. It is the period in which Brigitte, film after film, becomes a diva in France and beyond, before also launching herself into music in 1962. The series was written and directed by Danièle and Christopher Thompson. In the role of the young BB there is Julia de Nunez, completing the cast Victor Belmondo, Géraldine Pailhas, Hippolyte Girardot, Yvan Attal and Anne Le Ny.

Travel Companions (from Saturday 28 October on Paramount+)

United States, 1950s. Two men meet in Washington and fall in love. They are Hawkins Fuller, a political assistant, and Tim Laughin, an idealistic and very religious young man. Their story begins in the same period in which Senator Joseph McCarthy, father of McCarthyism, decides to declare war on ‘subversive sexual deviants’. And it continues, with ups and downs, until the 1980s, passing through the Vietnam War, Reaganite hedonism and the AIDS crisis. In the protagonist roles of Travel Companions (original title Fellow Travelers), from October 28 on Paramount+, there are Matt Bomer (Magic Mike) and Jonathan Bailey (Anthony in Bridgerton).
