A killer clown with a penchant for beheadings is set to wreak havoc on bystanders as part of his Vegas residency in the highly anticipated series, ‘Twisted Metal.’ The latest trailer, released on Monday morning, gives viewers a closer look at the adaptation, which is set to premiere on Peacock later this month.
Unlike the previous clip showcased at this year’s Summer Game Fest, this new trailer is more comprehensive, capturing the irreverent yet apocalyptic essence of the series. While the earlier clip focused on a brawl between Will Arnett’s character, Sweet Tooth, and Anthony Mackie’s character, The Milkman, culminating in an unexpected performance of the Thong Song, the latest trailer sheds light on the overall plot.
Mackie’s character narrates the trailer, providing crucial insight into the post-tragedy world of the show. As the United States lies in ruins, walled cities become safe havens for the fortunate few, while vast stretches of barren deserts are occupied by outlaws, cars, and guns. Mackie’s character assumes the task of transporting goods between these cities, a dangerous endeavor limited to a select few. However, the stakes are raised when Neve Campbell’s character offers him an assignment to deliver an item across the country in exchange for a coveted spot in her walled city.
Despite the grim backdrop, ‘Twisted Metal’ maintains its bizarre, ’90s-inspired humor. The trailer showcases Mackie’s character performing donuts in a shopping mall to locate a Footlocker, as well as the darkly comedic praise for Sweet Tooth’s latest beheading.
