The two fires in Lugo were controlled this midnight after destroying almost 150 hectares of the mountains of the municipalities of Palas de Rei and Castro Rei. The Ministry of Rural Affairs considers both stabilized, the first after reaching 120 hectares of land, and the second 27.

The one in Palas began around four in the afternoon on Friday. And it wasn’t until midnight when it was considered extinct, after the rain also did its part. It would not have been possible without the mobilization of three technicians, 17 agents, 19 brigades, 14 motor pumps, three shovels, four planes and five helicopters. In total, the Xunta confirmed that the fire destroyed a total of 120 hectares for his passing.

In parallel, that of Castro Rei had its origin minutes before that of Palas. And it was stabilized before 12 pm on Friday. In this case, according to the estimates of the Xunta, some 27 hectares belonging to the parish of Santa Locaia. All with the participation of three technicians, six agents, 18 brigades, 14 motor pumps, two planes and three helicopters.

The origin of the flames started in two industrial warehouses in the area of ​​Casás. The wood that was inside one of them was the cause of it burning completely. In the second, it was the logs they stored that caused the sparks. The neighbors themselves and individuals raised the alarm in the presence of the fire, as reported by 112. The latter notified the firefighters of Vilalba and Barreiros, the GES of A Pontenova and the Civil Guard for rapid intervention.
