The District Prosecutor’s Office in Dobrich handed over two men to court with charges of committing
robbery with complicity from a gambling hall in the town of General Toshevo, as well as theft from a private home.
38-year-old V.I. is charged with having committed both crimes while being dangerous
relapse, and his 19-year-old accomplice K.I. had already been convicted of theft.
The two men knew each other and maintained friendly relations. A few days before they committed the illegal act in the gambling hall, they were at each other’s homes and discussed the casino employees and the fact that there was no security in the evenings and the croupiers were left alone. This gave rise to the idea of robbing him, even carefully considering when this would happen.
At approximately 03:00 on 29 January 2024, after waiting for all patrons of the gaming hall to leave the premises, the two accused entered. The older one headed for the croupier, who was on shift at that moment, while the younger one stayed behind to secure the door. The employee’s resistance was broken by force, she was tied so as not to signal the robbery. V.I. and K.I. proceeded to implement their plan to rob the casino.
They took the money available in the cash desk of the gambling hall from the turnover, broke into the office and took a metal safe, a laptop computer and the croupier’s mobile phone from there. They left the crime scene and split up, each taking on a different task of hiding the traces of the crime and the loot.
After she managed to free herself, the employee filed a report. Work immediately began to investigate the case and search for the perpetrators. The complicity of the two defendants was established and on January 30, they were arrested and charged as defendants for the robbery of the sum of BGN 21,580.50 and EUR 1,881 from a gambling hall in the town of General Toshevo.
The theft, for which the two will also be held accountable before the court, took place a few hours before the robbery. The accused broke into an uninhabited house where they found laptop boards and displays that were new and in their original packaging. They decided they could sell them and stole them.
The District Court-Dobrich is yet to schedule the case against the two men for consideration. If he is found guilty of the robbery committed under conditions of dangerous recidivism, V.I. he can receive a penalty of “imprisonment” for a period of 5 to 15 years, and the court can order the confiscation of up to a second of his property. For the theft, which is also committed under conditions of dangerous recidivism, he can be punished with imprisonment for a period of 2 to 10 years. If K.I. years.
