Today, it is more necessary than ever to make enormous efforts to bring peace to the region and end the bloodshed, the UN chief said in a speech at the Peace Summit , noting that the two-state solution is the means to achieve this goal.

“It is the right of Israelis to see their legitimate security needs fulfilled, and likewise for Palestinians, who have the right to see their legitimate aspirations for an independent State realized, in accordance with United Nations resolutions, international law and related conventions”, underlined Mr. Guterres.

The Secretary General of the United Nations called, in this context, for respect for international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, consisting of protecting civilians, and not targeting hospitals, schools and United Nations premises. which currently shelter half a million people in Gaza.

In this regard, he insisted that the short-term objectives must be clear, reiterating his call for immediate, continuous and unrestricted humanitarian aid for civilians stranded in Gaza, for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and to the deployment of immediate and sincere efforts to put an end to the violence.

The work of the “Peace Summit” began this morning in the new administrative capital near Cairo.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, is represented at this Summit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

This Summit sees the participation of 30 countries, the United Nations and three regional organizations, in a joint effort to reduce the escalation in Gaza, protect civilians, open security corridors and enable the entry of humanitarian aid.
