Dubai: The UAE has imposed a four-month ban on the export and re-export of wheat and wheat flour from India. This was announced by the UAE Ministry of Finance. This measure will apply to all exports from the Freezones in the UAE for a period of four months from May 13.

The ban will apply to all types of wheat products, including wheat flour. Companies wishing to export / re-export Indian wheat and wheat flour imported into the country before May 13 should submit an application to the Ministry for export, officials said.

The embargo comes in the wake of disruptions in the food supply chain following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The UAE is not barred from exporting wheat from countries other than India. However, the Finance Ministry said that certain criteria must be met.
