The UEMOA Commissioner in charge of Community Land Use Planning and Transport visited the site on August 22, 2023. The delegation led by Jonas GBIAN was made up of experts from Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali and officials from the WAEMU Commission. This field trip, in the company of the Administrative Authorities of the Department of Ouangolo, made it possible to observe the effectiveness of the completion of the work of the PCJs and to discuss the preparations for the inauguration before the commissioning of the infrastructures.
Built on an area of ​​approximately 9 hectares, the PCJs include modern buildings for the services, in particular those of Customs, Police, Health, Phytosanitary and Veterinary, Water and Forestry as well as for transport players operating in the border between Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire.
The Juxtaposed Checkpoints are also equipped with high-tech equipment and modern computer systems, to fulfill their missions of control and fluidification of formalities for the passage of goods and people at the borders.
It should be noted that the PCJs of Laléraba are part of the seventeen substations whose construction was recorded by Decision No. 08/2001/CM/UEMOA of November 26, 2001, on the adoption and financing methods of a program for the construction of Joint Control Posts at the borders of the Member States of the Union.
