A fire broke out at the Russian port of Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar region after a Ukrainian attack on a rail ferry loaded with fuel tankers, Reuters reported, citing Russian authorities.
It is currently being established whether there are victims and what the scale of the fire is. The head of the Temryuk region, Fyodor Babenkov, said on the Telegram communication application that the ferry was loaded with 30 fuel tanks. A local task force reported that a special train was sent to the scene to extinguish the flames. More than 100 people are fighting the fire.
Several Russian media have published photos and videos showing flames and smoke rising above the port, BTA writes.
“Kavkaz” is the second largest Russian Black Sea port after Novorossiysk and serves ships that supply fuel to Crimea.
