2:57 p.m.: A young orphan transferred to Russia last year repatriated to Ukraine

Kiev and Moscow announced on Sunday that they had repatriated a 17-year-old Ukrainian orphan, transferred to Russia from the city of Mariupol after its occupation by the Russian army in spring 2022, following a bloody siege. “On November 19, his birthday, Bogdan returned to Ukraine,” the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Ukrainian Parliament, Dmytro Loubinets, rejoiced on Telegram.

The official, who published several photos of Bogdan Iermokhine, Ukrainian flag in hands, underlined the role of “Qatar (and) Unicef” in the repatriation of the teenager, without giving further details. “It was a thorny path. Bogdan experienced a lot during his stay in Russia, but despite everything, he wanted to return home,” he said. The head of the presidential administration, Andriï Iermak, for his part indicated that the teenager was “already in Ukraine, with his sister”.
