The Ukrainians are making gains, but the Russians are slowing them down with the use of Iranian drones

by time news

The forces of the Ukrainian army continue to gain achievements against the Russian army. Kyiv announced today (Monday) that the Ukrainian army has secured the eastern bank of the Oskil River and is preparing for an attack on Russian forces in the Donbas region.

The river, which flows south from Russia to Ukraine, was a natural break in the newly emerging front lines.

In recent days, the pace of Ukrainian progress has slowed again, but Zelensky said this is only because forces are consolidating and preparing for further attacks.

Zelensky said last night: “Maybe now it seems to some of you that after a series of victories we have a certain calm, but this is not a calm. This is preparation for the next series… because Ukraine must be free – all of it.”

Another possible reason for the slowing down of the Ukrainian forces is that Iranian drones operated by the Russian army managed to stop the Ukrainian counterattack in the east in the Kharkiv area, according to estimates from Western sources.

These drones fly low and are difficult to shoot down. Western military experts estimate that if the Iranian drone attacks continue at the current rate, they will be able to destroy the American rocket launchers and thus stop the Ukrainian counterattack. It can be assumed that from this point the Russians will expand the use of Iranian drones on additional fronts.

Earlier today, a Russian missile fell close to a nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian reports. The Ukrainians accuse the Russians of “nuclear terrorism”.

Tonight, Russian forces attacked Nikopol and Marhant across the Dnipro River, damaging dozens of buildings and cutting off the electricity supply to certain parts of the cities.

The British Ministry of Defense has meanwhile warned that Moscow may increase attacks on civilian targets amid Ukraine’s counterattack.

The British military has estimated that Russia may have lost at least four fighter jets in Ukraine in the past ten days, bringing the total number of fighter jets lost to 55 since the invasion began on February 24.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, was interviewed by the “60 Minutes” program this weekend and expressed optimism about Ukraine’s ability to win the war.

Biden said: “They are defeating Russia… The victory will only be complete when all Russian forces are completely withdrawn from Ukrainian territory, and the US will continue to support Ukraine – as long as it takes.”

He even gave a dig at the state of the Russian army: “It turns out that Russia is not as competent and competent as many people thought it should be.”
