Representatives of indigenous peoples have denounced the excesses of renewable energy projects on their territories at the United Nations platform.

It often happens that ecology bites its own tail. The alert launched by the leaders of indigenous peoples in New York last week is a further illustration of this. The latter met at the end of April for the 22e United Nations Forum on the theme “Indigenous peoples, human health, planetary and territorial health, climate change…”. Vast program… which was the occasion to unanimously denounce “green colonialism”, in other words the acts of expropriation of the first peoples in the name of ecology. Outrage first arose in Africa, when hunter-gatherer tribes were expelled from national parks to sanctuary wildlife. Then the indigenous peoples deplored the installation of wind turbines or solar panels on the territories. It’s a shame, when you know that the global platform on biodiversity constantly cites them as an example, recalling “that they represent 5% of the world’s population, but protect 80% of biodiversity…
