This Thursday the National University of the Arts joined the event in defense of Public, Free and Quality Education, responding to the call of the Argentine Public University System to carry out actions that make visible the position of the country’s higher education institutions in in relation to the various attacks that they have been suffering for some time, such as the threat of education tariffs.
The rector of the UNA, Sandra Torlucci, together with the management authorities and senior and departmental advisors of all the academic units met to participate in the action called by the Argentine Public University System, express their position and continue with the activities that All national universities and the National Interuniversity Council (CIN) have been carrying out the defense of free, quality public education. These meetings make clear the position of the public universities, which express their rejection of the proposals of the La Libertad Avanza party, which in its government platform proposes disengaging from the responsibility of guaranteeing higher education if its candidate, Javier Milei, reaches the presidency in the elections on Sunday, November 19.
During the meeting, Torlucci read the Communiqué of the National Interuniversity Council -CIN- approved this week unanimously, in an expanded meeting of its Executive Committee.

Activities within the framework of the 40 years of democracy and in defense of the public university
For the last 40 years in Argentina we have lived in uninterrupted democracy. Many people were born during this period and do not know what it is like to live under a dictatorship. Never before has our country gone through such a long period without military governments. The democracy recovered in 1983 was the corollary of the tireless struggles of our people. We owe those who put their bodies into this process the responsibility of not forgetting and knowing history. Within the framework of this important anniversary and at such a special moment, where voices that evoke that dark period in our history are heard again, all the academic units of the UNA and the Cárcova Museum prepared activities for care, defend and not forget the democracy we conquered.
