The Under-19 Cricket World Cup starts tomorrow

The 14th edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup will be held in the West Indies from tomorrow until February 5.

Australia will take on hosts West Indies in the first match of the two-match series tomorrow.

Sri Lanka will face Scotland in the second match. Both the matches will start at 7.30 pm Sri Lanka time.

India have won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 4 times, Australia 3 times, Pakistan 2 times, England, West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh 1 time each since 1988.

New Zealand and Sri Lanka became runners-up in 1998 and 2000 respectively.

Each team consists of 4 teams in a series of 16 teams.

The current world champions are in Group A with Bangladesh, Canada, England and the United Arab Emirates.

South Africa, India, Ireland and the United States are in Group B, while Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea and Pakistan are in Group C.

The tournament is hosted by West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland and Ireland. Team Tea is seen as the toughest team in the series.

The top two teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals of the league.

Sri Lanka, led by Dunith Wellalake, will take on Scotland in their first match tomorrow (14), Australia on the 17th and West Indies on the 21st.
