The Azerbaijan Cinematographers Union (AKI) has announced the list of those awarded on the occasion of National Cinema Day, which is celebrated on August 2, the AKI press service told Day.Az.
According to the decision of the Secretariat of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, the following filmmakers were awarded the traditional prize for 2024:
Ali-Sattar Guliyev (director, producer) – for successful production activities in recent years;
Rasim Jafar (Honored Artist) – for the successful performance of the role of Teymur in the feature film “Mən burdayam, İlahi!” (I am here, Almighty!);
Emil Najafov (producer) – for contribution to the development of art-house cinema;
Orhan Mardan (producer) – for successful production work on the feature film “Səma ilə görüş” (Meeting with the Sky).
The full-length feature film “Mən burdayam, İlahi!” starring Rasim Jafar is based on real events and tells the story of the hero of the Second Karabakh – 44-day Patriotic War of Azerbaijan. According to the plot, during one of the battles, he is seriously wounded and falls into a coma, and when he comes to his senses three months later, it turns out that his mother has died and his daughter is in a boarding school. He needs to come to his senses in order not only to return to normal life, but also to bring his daughter back and raise her alone. However, the moral and psychological consequences of the war and the heavy traces of what he experienced become the main problem for this.
Emil Najafov was the organizer and producer of many foreign films filmed in the country. The films he produced (Hasar, Qız qalası, Məhvolma, Mən hələ də səninlə danışıram, Yadlar, Mənim sehrli dünyam, etc.) participated in the competition section of various international festivals and were awarded.
The feature film “Meeting with the Sky”, produced by Orkhan Marda, tells the story of Robin Hood in Azerbaijani. The film combines the genres of adventure, drama and comedy. The plot is based on the childhood memories of the heroes. Unforeseen circumstances in the course of events reveal sharp contradictions… The film “Meeting with the Sky” is considered a successful production project in Azerbaijani cinema.
