The union of values is abolishing – also in Berlin

by time news

BerlinThe union of values, the club on the right wing of the CDU, is sinking more and more into insignificance. After the state boards of Bavaria, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Saxony-Anhalt resigned on Friday, the top of the Berlin state board also announced his resignation from this post and his departure. The day before, Saskia Ludwig, former head of the Union of Values, a CDU member of the Bundestag and Landtag from Brandenburg, had publicly distanced herself from the association.

The last trigger for the decision of the Berlin board of directors was the election of Max Otte as federal chairman two months ago. The fund manager from the Sauerland took over the office from Alexander Mitsch, a founding member of the Union of Values. CDU member Mitsch, a financial clerk from Baden-Württemberg, was for years the face of the association, which has made it its task to represent a “conservative brand core” of the CDU and CSU. This was more and more watered down, especially in the Angela Merkel era.
