BerlinAt the unity celebration in Halle on Sunday there was harmony. At least superficially. There were political companions sitting together. FDP leader Christian Lindner had taken a seat behind Union chancellor candidate Armin Laschet. They have known each other from North Rhine-Westphalia for years and rule there together. But in the meantime it is no longer so clear whether Lindner stays true to the Rhenish motto, you know each other and help each other, to stick to the bar. And then there was the CDU grande Rita Süssmuth, who has been accusing her party of having messed up a lot since the election. Or still-Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn, who also does not hold back with criticism – like so many from the Union these days.
