The United Nations Special Coordinator for Middle East Peace, Tor Wensland, visited the Gaza Strip and warned that the Zionist occupation’s invasion of the city of Rafah, south of the Strip, would lead to a more dangerous situation.

Winsland described the situation in Gaza as catastrophic, saying: “You can easily see the desperation and fear that people face. There are approximately 1.4 million Palestinians living in extremely crowded conditions in Rafah, without any resources, with barely access to medical care, and without a place to sleep. There is no safe place to go.”
UN spokesman Stefan Duarek said that Winsland spoke with displaced families, listened to their stories, and met with UN staff and non-governmental organizations who are doing extremely hard work to provide vital humanitarian assistance to those in need.
Wensland reviewed the operational and security challenges, including the breakdown of law and order, facing the entry and distribution of humanitarian goods, stressing that “it is clear that more needs to be done.”
He stressed that the United Nations needs the necessary tools to serve people on the ground.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz revealed a plan to expand the military operation in the Gaza Strip to include the city of Rafah if the Hamas movement does not release the detainees by the end of the first ten days of March and the beginning of Ramadan.
