Diplomatic sources also said that the delegation will also include US Department of Revenue and Treasury Assistant Under Secretary for International Finance Brent Neiman and National Security Council Senior Director Lindsey Ford. Besides, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu will be in that delegation.

Earlier, Donald Lu visited Dhaka with a delegation on May 14.

Meanwhile, the interim government’s chief advisor Professor Dr. US Charge d’Affaires Helen Lafave paid a courtesy call on Muhammad Yunus. At that time, he said that the United States will support the interim government of Bangladesh and strengthen relations with Dhaka on various issues.

During the meeting, Helen Lafave said that the United States is happy to congratulate the chief adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh. He expressed hope that Dhaka and Washington will be able to work more closely in the coming days.

He said the US Embassy in Dhaka will resume consular services this week to speed up the visa process.

Charge the Affairs said that thousands of Bangladeshi students are currently studying in various universities in the United States.

Helen LaFave mentioned that the United States will closely assist Bangladesh in health, education, labor, rule of law and Rohingya issues.

He said that Washington has already started the resettlement of Rohingyas in the United States and he expressed hope that this process will be faster.

Referring to the United States, which is the largest donor in terms of humanitarian aid to the Rohingya, Charge the Affairs said that the increase in financial aid from the United States this year has increased the amount of monthly food aid to the Rohingya. He urged Rohingyas to create livelihood opportunities.

Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus Washington thanked the United States for supporting Bangladesh and said that in terms of the United States’ multi-dimensional assistance, the issue of continuing financial support to more than one million Rohingya living in the camps of Cox’s Bazar is worth mentioning.

“General elections will be held in Bangladesh after a reasonable time,” the chief adviser told the US diplomat, noting that the interim government had taken responsibility for carrying out radical reforms.

Dr. Yunus called on donors to form a ‘common platform’ and continue concerted efforts to stand by the flood-affected people in Bangladesh.

During the meeting, US Charge d’Affaires Helen LaFave expressed some concern about Bangladesh’s labor situation and minority issues. At that time, the chief adviser said, “Every citizen of Bangladesh is ‘protected by the constitution’ and the interim government is committed to protecting the human rights of all citizens.”

Human rights issues, Cyber ​​Security Act, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and various matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

The US Charge d’Affaires said his government was trying to help establish a prosecutorial service in Bangladesh to ensure justice.
