SEXOLOGY – In addition to urine and semen, a third substance flows from the male sex: “Cowper’s fluid”. Dr. Catherine Solano explains its role and its properties.

Two fluids can come from the male sex, urine and semen. However, there is a third fluid which, although more discreet, deserves to be known. This has several names: pre-ejaculatory liquid, pre-seminal, or even “Cowper’s fluid”. It is in fact produced by two symmetrical glands called “Cowper” or “Mery-Cowper” located in the depths of the roots of the penis, where the sex is buried at the level of the perineum. They are also called bulbourethral glands.

Many people don’t pay much attention to it. I met in consultation men discovering the existence of this liquid late, often thanks to a sexual concern encouraging them to observe themselves a little more attentively.
