The image features Jannica Hedberg, who will be taking over as the new restaurant manager for Guldkant in Västervik. The current manager of the restaurant is leaving for a new project under the same company at Västervik Resort. After months of searching for a replacement, 32-year-old Jannica Hedberg has been chosen for the position. Previously, Jannica taught at the Vimmerby restaurant school and worked as a chef in Kalmar. Her background in pedagogy and experience in the restaurant industry is a great advantage for the seasonal business. Erik Hemmingsson, the co-owner and operational manager of Guldkant, is hopeful about Jannica’s recruitment and thinks it is a great advantage that she is not a well-known person in Västervik. Jannica is excited about the job and keen on challenges that come with managing and developing a restaurant in a new town with new guests.

Guldkant’s current restaurant manager in Västervik is moving on to new assignments linked to the company’s venture at Västervik Resort. For a few months, they have been looking for her replacement, and now the company has found the right one and reached goals in the process. Today, 32-year-old Vimmerbytjejen Jannica Hedberg took up the position.

Jannica has previously taught at the restaurant school in Vimmerby, and most recently came from a corresponding position in Hultsfred. In the past, she has also worked as a chef in Kalmar and had time to train as a teacher.

“A giant force”

– We are super happy about the recruitment, and above all very hopeful, says Guldkant’s co-owner and operational manager Erik Hemmingsson.

– Our business is largely seasonal. In low season, we have an average age of our staff of perhaps 25-30 years, while in high season it is 18-19 years in the entire group. Jannica’s history with pedagogy from the school world, taking care of and leading people of that age, as well as her solid experience from the restaurant industry is a huge strength. She has the understanding and knowledge from all levels that is required.

“Tagged on challenges”

Erik Hemmingsson also thinks that it is a great advantage that Jannica has no connection to Västervik, and thus is not a well-known person in town.

– Here she gets to create her own name – she comes in as a clean slate and without anyone having any preconceived notions. In previous recruitments I have sometimes experienced it as a problem. It is easy to form incorrect prejudices.

This is what Jannica Hedberg herself says about her new job:

– I’m keen on challenges, getting to know Västervik, the regulars and all the guests. I want to continue to manage and develop Guldkant together with the other staff and all the fantastic guests.
