The upcoming update for Xbox Series X|S consoles will shorten the boot time

Xbox Series X|S players will soon be able to start playing faster when the console’s boot time will be significantly shortened thanks to a new software update.

Users who are registered for the Xbox Insider program noticed that after the latest beta update to the console’s operating system version, that the boot time of the operating system was shortened by about 5 seconds and the console takes a little less than 15 seconds to boot up after shutting down compared to 20 seconds – the duration of the boot up time before the update.

It is not a complete shutdown, but a standby mode spring that is activated when users turn on the option to save electricity consumption.

According to Microsoft, the change is mainly due to a change made to the boot animation, which is shortened to 4 seconds compared to the 9 seconds it used to be. The shortening of the boot time was done as part of the emphasis on encouraging sustainability in Microsoft products to encourage users to activate the power saving mode – now also activated by default – and thus save energy.

As mentioned, the update is currently available to the circle of Insider users and is expected to reach all users soon.
